Operating Cameras & Technology

During my internship this past semester, I learned how to operate the main cameras used during practices and games such as the 8k Solutions boat and JVC/Panasonic cameras. I also learned how to use the different technologies that are essential to the everyday functions of the video/technology department such as XOS Digital Media, projectors, SD card readers, speakers, remotes, and televisions. Having the knowledge of how to operate all of these different technologies has opened up a lot of doors for me that I never thought possible. I had very limited experience with technology at the start of this internship and now feel very familiar and confident with it. When progressing in the sport industry, having learned and excelled in these skills will be a huge advantage for me.

Networking

Throughout my academic and professional career at Rutgers, one activity that has been emphasized and promoted is networking. Whether it be in the classroom or in my internships, almost everybody who I have associated with has discussed the importance of networking. Understanding the importance of it has been something I have been learning and will still be learning as I continue on in my future endeavors. Being able to connect with people is so important not just in professional life, but in personal life as well. Being able to connect with my fellow students, co-workers, supervisors, and professors is something I am very grateful for, and I hope to continue learning from them and many more in the future.

Understanding of Game Day Operations

Before taking my major-based classes and working for Rutgers Football, I was completely unaware of just how much goes into preparing for games. On all fronts, there is so much that needs to be prepared and carried out in order to ensure that everything goes smoothly. I have been lucky to learn from many professors who have hands-on experience in the industry who gave me so much insight into working for sport organizations. Along with learning from their experiences, I have also been able to grow from my own participation in both my recruiting and video/technology internships with Rutgers Football. Having worked both home and away games with the team, I understand how all of the different departments work together as one to make the day go as smoothly as possible. Whether I spent my game days working in recruiting, handling more operational duties or in video/technology filming the game, I was always learning and growing.
