Future Plans
5 Year Plan
My professional goals for the next 5 years consist of:
Graduating with my B.S. in Sport Management from Rutgers University
I have been working very hard towards earning my degree in sport management from the time I declared for the major in Fall 2020. When I graduated high school, there was never a question of what I wanted to major in. It was always sport management. I am so excited to continue my academic career and finish out my last semester at Rutgers University this spring.
Interning for collegiate football teams in their recruiting/operations departments
After graduation, I plan on continuing to find internships with collegiate football programs. Whether it still be with Rutgers or with another team, working in college sports is something I strive to do as a career. While I have had a great experience interning in the video/technology department, I am planning on focusing more on finding internships in recruiting or operations. I have a lot of connections in the Rutgers Football organization that I plan on consulting when finding these internships.
Working as a Recruiting/Operations Assistant for a collegiate football program
Once I am interning for different collegiate programs and excel within an organization, I hope to be hired in a full-time position. A position that I strive to have is in a Recruiting/Operations Assistant. At this point in my five year plan, I will have many years of experience working in recruiting/operations and will be more than prepared in taking on a full-time position. From there my goal is to keep growing in this position and eventually run a recruiting department.
10 Year Plan
My professional goals for the next 10 years, my 5 year plan serves as a stepping stone to achieving these objectives
Working as a Director of Recruiting/Football Operations
After working as a recruiting/operations assistant, my primary goal is to move up and become a Director of Recruiting/Football Operations. This position is responsible for planning official visits for recruits, planning game days, and plays a key role in the functioning of a collegiate football program. I work very closely with the people in these positions at Rutgers Football and look up to them greatly. I plan on continuing to learn from them as much as I can and will take their lessons with me throughout my career.
Receive a Championship Ring
Working for a championship-winning program and one day having a championship ring is a goal I strive to achieve one day. Growing up, I have always wanted to have a championship ring. It symbolizes all of the hard work, sacrifice, and dedication it takes from not just the team, but everyone involved to come together and win a championship. Working for a team like that is so exciting and an experience I would love to have one day. I plan on achieving this by working hard and being the best I can be to continue to grow in this industry. While I may not be on the field playing for the ring, I want my work to make an impact in the team getting to that point.
Earning a Masters Degree in Sports Business
Education has played such a significant role in my life and is something I am very grateful for. I have always been interested in continuing my educational journey and going to graduate school. Once I am settled both personally and professionally in my life, I plan on going back to school for my Masters degree. I am including this in my 10 year plan as opposed to my 5 year goals because I want to focus more on gaining hands on experience in the field before attending graduate school. I feel that this experience from my internships and full-time positions will benefit me greatly in graduate school and give me a new perspective and appreciation for what I will be learning.
My Plan-B is to continuing to work in sports but on a smaller scale, such as being a high school athletic director or working for a Division II or III collegiate program. However, I do feel that my connections and experiences thus far in my career will help to allow me to excel and achieve my goals. While some are more realistic than others, these are all goals I truly feel I can achieve one day. Especially my short term goals, as I already have so much experience under my belt. I will continue to work hard and take every opportunity that comes my way. The sky is the limit for me and I plan on going far in the sport industry.
